Originating from Native American folklore stories, Wendigos appear in Fallout 76 as twisted, post-human mutants with enormous and sharp claws. Beating Wendigos will be challenging when you encounter them. They are friendly with Feral Ghouls and will sometimes use a piercing shriek that attracts a horde of them to their location. I find it easy to deal with them by climbing onto objects or furniture because they won’t run away and continue to screech at me.
