Once you have the ability, sail over to theStellar Basinin thesouthwestsection of the map. Headnorthof theOld Fortressand check every set of bubbles until you find anAbyssal fishing spotthat’s glowing red.

You’ll know you’ve found a Loosejaw spot when the shadow looks like a big fish with ahinged jaw. It has a very unique shape, so there will be no mistaking it.

Once you’ve caught all three of the requested fish, go back to the Research Assistant, who will ask you to go to theResearch Outpostand find thePrototype Parts. Sail slightlysoutheastof the Old Fortress to find it. Enter the building here andinspect the equipment on the tableto pick up the Prototype Parts.
Return to the Research Assistant and give her the Prototype Parts. In exchange, she will craft and gift you theSampling Device, which unlocks Abyssal fishing.
