The very last thing I expected to see inBaldur’s Gate 3was a Djinn, let alone one running a spin-the-wheel game within the confines of a planar circus. For a mere 500g, you can have a chance to win the big prize. Surely, winning can’t be that hard, right? Wrong, because Akabi is running a scam. Looking to get that jackpot anyway? Then, read on and find out how you can.

How to win Akabi’s Jackpot in BG3

When you spin Akabi’s wheel, you get to watch the wheel spin and land on a section. Upon your first play, you probably lost. In fact, I know you did, because I did too. Don’t feel bad, because it isnot possible to win at Akabi’s game unless you’re aware of the trick he’s using.

Akabi is using an invisible Mage Hand, similar to the one that Arcane Tricksters get access to, in order to stop the wheel in his favor; you can never win against his game because of this. With high enough Perception, this can be determined in-game, but you don’t need any Perception to actually stop Akabi from cheating you. Have your pickpocketer take a look at Akabi’s inventory (Astarionis a good choice for this)—there you will find a Mage Hand ring (the core tool of his simple scam). Nab the ring from Akabi and try spinning again; you’ll likely win the jackpot on the first try.

The moment you win, though, Akabi will get rather upset, calling you a cheater in a childish act of defiance. If you insult him or request the jackpot you rightfully won, he will snap his fingers in iconic genie fashion and teleport you into the middle of a random jungle filled with hostile raptors (only thewinning member of your party is teleported).

Fortunately, this jungle area is very small and linear, with only one direction to go. A portal will be open in the distance; make your way toward it, fighting off any raptors that attack you. Once you reach the portal (which won’t be long due to how small of an area it is), you’ll find a large chest sitting to the left of it. Open this chest, and inside will be the jackpot reward Akabi owed you—the legendary rarity trident,Nyrulna.

What is Nyrulna?

Nyrulna is an incredibly powerful trident with some of the most ridiculous stats in all of BG3. Capable of being wielded with one hand or two, its power comes from its unique features and mechanics:

Additionally, Nyrulna also grants access to two unique special attacks:

Nyrulna is undoubtedly an end-game weapon that will be rather difficult to replace before the credits roll. Considering how much of a sore loser Akabi was, it is surprising to me he honored the rules of his own game, even if he did put a few extra obstacles in the way.
