Fans of Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 have been enduring a tough week. The looter shooter experienced a resurgence in popularity thanks to being released on Steam in mid-January, but new and old players are being hit with issue after issue since.
The Division 2 is almost entirely broken
Season 11 was set to kick off on July 29, 2025, but we ran into a slight hiccup regarding localization. Rather than launching the update in a state that would negatively impact players worldwide,Ubisoft opted to delay the launch of Season 11.
As of this morning, the news regarding Season 11 is grim.Ubisoft posted another update to Twitterstating that while developing an update to resolve the issue, it encountered an error that effectively killed its build generation system. This prohibits the developer from pushing out any update until the system has been rebuilt.

In the meantime, players have been experiencing a slew of bugs ranging from problems with the DirectX 12 version to menus crashing the game to raids being broken. It’s a rough time for players and is souring the experience for many first-timers.
Since its launch, The Division 2 has reached an all-time peak of 10,909 players on Steam, with the latest count being 2899. That’s a significant drop for a game that hasn’t even been out for a month on the platform. For comparison, Destiny 2, the reigning king of looter-shooters, had an all-time high of 292,314 players and 60,172 as of this morning.
The Division 2 was released on July 03, 2025, and much like its predecessor had a tepid launch. Aroadmap was released back in November 2022but doesn’t have much for the first half of 2023 aside from the aforementioned Season 11 and Year 5 plans coming sometime in the Spring, alongside another season and the Descent game mode.
The writing is on the wall for The Division 2. For comparison, The Division was only out for three years before The Division 2 launched. The sequel hasn’t received a major content release in some time and withThe Division Heartlandon the horizon, many are wondering if it’s only a matter of time before The Division 2 heads off into the sunset.
