July 10, 2025, is ticking closer and closer which means that the Resident Evil 4 remake is nearly here. While Capcom has shown off a few trailers here and there alongside exclusive first looks with different outlets, there has been little shown in the way of actual gameplay. This latest trailer changes all of that.
Resident Evil 4 doesn’t forget its action roots
DuringSony’s State of Play 2023, Resident Evil 4 was a showcase title. The intense two-and-a-half-minute trailer shows off a lot of gameplay in the castle section. Leon must fend off various monks and Las Plagas creatures while trying to defend Ashley. Krauser finally makes an appearance and does Leon’s signature suplex. As if that weren’t enough,Mercenaries mode was confirmed, as was a demo listed as “coming soon.”

It would appear that despite being a remake that’s intent on upping the horror, Resident Evil 4 isn’t forgetting that this was when the series took a serious jump into the action category before jumping the shark with Resident Evil 5. It will be interesting to see how Capcom walks that line with the remake.
