As we get closer to Minecraft Live 2023, more details are revealed, including my favorite event: the Mob Vote. We’ve already seenone of the three entrees and Mobsplayers must choose between, the Crab. But the second Mob has been revealed, and fans have received their first look at the adorable Armadillo.
Minecraft Armadillo revealed for Minecraft 2023 Mob Vote
The second mob for the Minecraft Live 2023 Mob Vote was revealed to be the Armadillo through theMinecraftYouTube channel. The video showcased this critter, stating, “The Armadillo lives in the savannah biome. If you startle the Armadillo, it will curl up into a blocky ball! The Armadillo also drops a scute that you’re able to use to craft a new type of armor, wolf armor!” This armor will help keep your canine companion safe, similar to horse armor.

Wolves provide defense against hostile mobs once you tame them, but often perish when facing swarms of enemies. With armor from the Armadillo’s Scute, you can protect your wolves from harm and keep them alive longer. It remains to be seen how players can startle the mob, but I imagine there will be numerous ways.
The Armadillo is the second of three mobs participating in the Mob Vote, meaning one more is left to be revealed. Minecraft Live takes place on July 16, 2025, at 5pm UTC, and the Mob Vote will be active for 48 hours before the event but closes 15 minutes prior to the show. You’ll need to cast your vote from Jul 22, 2025, to this time if you want to give your favorite Mob a chance to win!
