As a massive fan of the Cyberpunk universe, I’m excited to jump back into Night City and explore Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty. Before starting Phantom Liberty, you must meet a few requirements, so here is how a guide on how to start Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty.
How do you begin Phantom Liberty in Cyberpunk 2077?
Two options exist for starting the Phantom Liberty expansion content in Cyberpunk 2077. One is to selectSkip Ahead to Phantom Libertywhen creating a new character. Selecting the skip option lets you jump into the game with a newlevel 15 characterand have both Phantom Liberty and base game content unlocked. The skip option also starts your character with pre-selectedcyberwareandattributes.
If you want to change your attributes, you can do so by selecting reset attributes in the skill menu. Choosing the skip option starts players in Pacifica, allowing them to start experiencing all the new content right out of the gate.
The other option for playing Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion is to selectRegular Startwhen creating a new character. Choosing the Regular Start option begins the game normally, but you must progress the main story to unlock Phantom Liberty’s content. Reaching and completing Act two’s Walk The Line, Never Fade Away, and Transmission quests will unlock Phantom Liberty’s story content.

You can also progress and unlock the Phantom Liberty content if you have anolder character. Depending on your level, the content may prove easier if you havebetter weapons,cyberware, etc. Overall, it doesn’t really matter which mode you choose when starting the game, nor does it affect balance too much. That said, we recommend choosing the option for starting Phantom Liberty that works best for you. If you have already played through Cyberpunk 2077’s base game and want to experience the Phantom Liberty content now rather than later,select the skip option.
If you rather let the content unlock naturally, choose theRegular Start optionwhen creating a new character or select an older save and continue where you left off (I picked this option and it’s going great so far). Once you get in-game and depending on the option you picked, you can start the Phantom Liberty storyline in either option after receiving an unknown call. After the call, proceed to the location(Entrance to Dogtown)shown below to begin playing Phantom Liberty’s storyline/content:
