Deckhands are NPCs looking for adventure and willing to join your crew. These Traveling NPCs can be found in any town and have various stats, so choosing the right deckhand is important. Deckhands won’t just join any crew; you must have enough Renown to get them to join you. TheRenown neededis1,000 times the NPC’s level. This can be either bounty or fame.

If you have the required amount of Renown, the NPC will respect you and join your crew. If you do not, they will state they are searching for a famous captain to join up and sail with.Larger ships can hold more deckhands than smaller ships. Deckhands can be upgraded once they have joined your crew and are on your ship. Eachupgrade costs galleonsand has arenown requirement, but upgrading them will increase their skill and boosts thestatsthey give. You can also part ways with any unwanted deckhands to make room for more.
