In a shock announcement at Fan Fest 2023, we learned that Final Fantasy XIV was coming to Xbox Series X & S! It’s a huge surprise, that comes just as FFXIV stands on the cusp of a graphic update for the 7.0 release. So how do you get into the FFXIV Xbox Open Beta, and when does it release?

When does the FFXIV Xbox Open Beta release?
The Xbox Open Beta releases alongside the 6.5 patch series. Final Fantasy XIV has a four-month patch cycle, where a major numbered patch—6.1, 6.2, 6.3, and so on—will be released every four months. 6.4 released in May 2023, so our best estimate (ahead of the official announcement) is that 6.5 will be released in September 2023, and the Xbox Open Beta will release sometime after that.
Will FFXIV on Xbox be cross-play?
We’ve got our fingers crossed very hard that FFXIV on Xbox will be crossplay. The game has had crossplay between PS4, PS5, and PC since its launch. But without official confirmation, we’ll just have to wait and see!
