Farosh is one of the flying dragons in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and you’ll need to break off its scales for certain armor upgrades. I thought it’d be difficult, but it’s easier than you’d think! Here’s how to get Farosh’s Scale and other parts in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

Where to get Farosh’s Scale in Zelda TotK (Tears of the Kingdom)

To get a Farosh’s Scale, you literally need toland on the backof the massive beast (yup, the thought scared me at first, too!). Once you’re on its back, strike its scaleswhen it glowsto rip one off. It’ll land next to you; pick it up, and you’ll obtain aFarosh’s Scale.

It is important to note that you’ll need a wooden or non-metal bow for this, since Farosh is the lightning dragon and will fly through lightning storms and send out balls of electricity which can zap you if you’re in the air. It is also best not to have a metal shield or weapon equipped.

To get the other dragon parts from Farosh, you’ll need to wait for the dragon to start glowing again. This can take about 10 minutes in real time, or 10 hours in-game. To get Farosh’s Claw, you’ll need to aim for one of the feet. To get Farosh’s Fang you must wait another 10 minutes and then hit him with an arrow somewhere in the mouth, aiming for the lower jaw is best. To get Farosh’s Horn follow the same steps but hit the horn in the center of his head. Be sure to grab the parts before letting them fall or you’ll have to follow them downward to prevent losing them.

How to find Farosh in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TotK) - Exact location

If you’ve seen the flying dragons around Hyrule, you may assume that they show up randomly. I did at first. But Farosh actually appears at aspecific locationat somewhatcertain timeintervals, making the hunt for the scaly monster a lot easier.

Go to theEast Gerudo Chasmin the Gerudo region (map coordinates -2489, -3041, 0090) and wait until 2am; this is when it showed up for me. It could show up at an entirely different time but if you keep watching the red Chasm hole, you’ll see it eventually. You might have to wait 10 to 15 minutes, however. The dragons eventually go back down into the Chasm, where you can continue to ride them until they emerge again.

While watching the opening to the East Gerudo Chasm, you’ll eventually start to see the giant electric dragonfly out of the hole. Once it’s high enough, you’ll be able to soar onto its back from the Sky Islands or the nearest skyview tower using your Paraglider. I found it easiest to hang out close to the hole to keep an eye on the it, then fast traveled to the nearest skyview tower once the Farosh started appearing.

Watch out as you approach, though, as Farosh will sendballs of electricityyour way. If they hit you, Link will fall out of the sky! This happened to me, and I was so annoyed…

Farosh’s Scale has several uses in TotK. The main use is forupgrading certain armor(like the attack-boosting Fierce Deity Armor) at a Great Fairy Fountain, though it can be used tofuse powerful weaponsorcreate dyesat theKochi Dye Shop in Hateno Village.

If none of those tickle your fancy, you could alwayssell it, which will net you150 Rupees, but that hardly seems worth the effort.
