There are seven different Five-Star Standard Warp characters you could pull in Honkai: Star Rail. Of those seven, Yanqing has one of the highest damage potentials, with a kit that plays with boosting his Critical Rate, freezing enemies, and even throwing in a follow-up attack. Here’s my recommendation for how to build him, including Light Cones, Relics, and Team Comps to use.
Best Light Cones for Yanqing in Honkai Star Rail
As a Five-Star Character, Yanqing has abest in slot Light Conedesigned just for him calledSleep Like the Dead. This Light Cone plays strictly into boosting both Critical Damage and Critical Rate, which Yanqing’s kit centers on. This Light Cone can be obtained luckily through any Gacha Banner, or you could build up Undying Star Light and purchase a copy from the in-game shop for 600 Undying Star Light.
Best Free-to-Play Light Cone for Yanqing
There is a free-to-play Five-Star Hunt Light Cone calledCruising in the Stellar Seathat is also a decent option to use for Yanqing. Unfortunately, it boosts his Critical Rate more than his Damage, which is what Yanqing really needs.River Flows in Springis a great Four-Star option that can also be purchased from the Forgotten Hall Shop. If you are really early in the game, you could also opt to use aThree-Star Light Cone, likeDarting ArrowsorAdversarial.

Best Relic Sets for Yanqing in Honkai Star Rail
There is one clearRelic Setthat works well for Yanqing calledHunter of Glacial Forest. It boosts both Ice damage and boosts Critical Damage after Ultimate use, which ties almost directly into Yanqing’s kit.
For Planar Relics, you could use any of three sets:Inert Salsotto,Celestial Differentiator, orSpace Sealing Station. Out of the three, we would choose Celestial Differentiator, as it further boosts Critical Damage.
Which stats should you boost on Yanqing?
Yanqing is a damage dealer with a lot of Critical Rate built into his kit, so we recommend adding as much Critical Damage as possible to take advantage of this. Here are my recommendations for the other Main Stats to use on Yanqing’s Relic Pieces.
Yanqing’s Element and Path in Honkai Star Rail
Plan to build a team around Yanqing, as he is a single-target damage dealer who follows the Path of The Hunt. Since he primarily deals damage, you’ll want to be mindful about what fights you put him in. Yanqing is an Ice Element character, so he will work best in fights against enemies weak to the Ice element. As he has access to the freeze effect, he’ll also do very well in the Simulated Universe under the Remembrance Path Resonance.
Best Teammates for Yanqing
Yanqing is a bit delicate. He will need healers or shielders on his team to protect him. Characters likeMarch 7th,GepardorNatasha, work well for this. He also pairs well with buffers and debuffers, likePelaorTingyun.
