There are two ways of turning invisible in Hogwarts Legacy, both with advantages and disadvantages, making one better depending on the situation. Here is the difference between the Invisibility Potion and Disillusionment Spell in Hogwarts Legacy.
Are the Invisibility Potion and Disillusionment Spell different in Hogwarts Legacy?
The Invisibility Potion is the first potion you get your hands on in Hogwarts Legacy. During your initial visit to Hogsmeade during theWelcome to Hogsmeadequest, you’re tasked with visiting J. Pippin’s Potions and buying the recipe. You can also purchase the potions here too.
Once you’ve chugged an Invisibility Potion, you will become utterly invisible to everyone - including enemies. This may sound obvious, butcompared to the Disillusionment Spell, whichdoesn’t hide you from opponents completely, it has the upper hand. This means it’s thebetter option to pick when taking the stealthy approachin an enemy camp.
It is also a good idea to bring an Invisibility Potion or two along when taking on a more challenging opponent like an Infamous Foe because it gives you the ability torun away and healwithout still being detectable by the enemy, like the Disillusionment Spell.

In most cases, using Invisibility Potions over the Disillusionment Spell is better, but it does come with drawbacks. For example, you must either buy or brew the potion, costing you money. Once you’ve reached theSecrets of the Restricted Section quest, you can cast the spell any timefor free. So it just depends on your situation and whether you’re trying to avoid detection or not.
Though when it comes toopening up Eye Chestsorgetting into the Mine’s Eyein Hogwarts Legacy, the Disillusionment Spell is the better option as it doesn’t cost anything andworks precisely the same.
