You’ll find that managing your finances is a major part of expanding and nurturing your town in Cities: Skylines 2. This is why it’s so frustrating when your money is being sunk into unknown expenses!
If you’re new to the Cities: Skylines universe, it can be very daunting to figure outhow to budgetand accurately allot cashflow. One of the biggest deductions you’ll see is Service Upkeeps, as it’s labeled in the Budget tab. But what is it, and how do you lower it?
Why is my Service Upkeep high in Cities Skylines 2?
All of these work to make your city functional and high quality, but it can drain your financials quickly. If you want to reduce the drain of this upkeep, you’ll need to adjust your budget in each category until it’s at a satisfactory level.

How to reduce Service Upkeep costs in Cities Skylines 2
While it’s natural to think that adjusting your budgets would be done under theBudgettab, that’s actually not the case. Cities: Skylines 2 made it a bit confusing and put it under theServicestab instead. Once there, click on each category on the left hand side to change how much you’ll spend on the service. Some categories likeElectricityeven have aService Feeyou can alter, allowing you to charge citizens more money (just be careful not to overdo it, as it can result in unhappy citizens or underperforming utilities).
