The Gauntlet of Shar is a series of difficult challenges in Baldur’s Gate 3. As the name suggests, the Faith-Leap Trial asks you to put your faith in Shar as you traverse over a dark chasm. The path is there, you just can’t see it…or can you? It took me a few tries, but I soon realized that the secret to the Faith-Leap Trial was right in front of me the whole time. Here’s how to beat it.
Faith Leap Trial Location in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Faith-Leap Trial in Baldur’s Gate 3 is located north of theGauntlet of Shar WaypointatX:-751 Y:-727. Go past theSelf-Same Trialand head down the stairs; you’ll find it behind a set of doors to your right.
When you enter the trial, have a member of your party complete the blood sacrifice to Shar at the altar—preferably Shadowheart if you want to earn her approval. From here, you’ll need to walk across the dark chasm and reach a platform at the back, where theUmbral Gemyou need lies.

How to Beat the Faith Leap Trial in Baldur’s Gate 3
Though the steps might be invisible at first, there are actually two ways you can figure out where they are. The first is to move your party away from the altar and back toward the entrance of the room;make sure they’re facing away from the chasm. If you do this, you’ll be able to see the faint, shadowy outline of the path you need to take. However, this outline will vanish when you turn back around.
The second way is tolook at the floor in front of Shar’s altar(pictured above). There’s a map of the entire path right under your feet! As long as you follow this map, you’ll be able to reach the other side of the chasm safely. Keep in mind that falling will teleport you back to the start, and your third fall willkill your character.

Finishing the Faith Leap Trial
To complete the Faith-Leap Trial, simply collect the Umbral Gem from the statue of Shar, then interact with theUmbral Transporterit was sitting on. This will take you back to the entrance to the trial, where you can regroup with your party and continue exploring.
