To spice things up in Atelier Ryza 3, Gust has added the Secret Key System that can be used to enhance almost all aspects of gameplay, from combat to crafting and exploration. If you are a bit confused by this new system, don’t worry, we can help. Here’s everything you need to know about the Secret Key System in Atelier Ryza 3.

All Atelier Ryza 3 Secret Key System details

Secret Keys are unlocked shorty after your first trip to the mew Kark Isles location in Atelier Ryza 3. At first, you will be limited to using Hollow Keys, but after a certain point in the main story, you will be able to create better Pristine Keys any time at your cauldron. Hollow and Pristine Keys can be transformed into usable keys in one of two ways: you can either transform them at a Landmark location or you can transform them in battle, after weakening an enemy to a certain point. The final type of key created is largely dependent on the source it was transformed from.

Atelier Ryza 3 Secret Key Effect Types

Once transformed, keys will be randomly assigned effects in four different categories:Symbol,Buff,Adventure, andSynthesis. Symbol effects can be used by equipping keys to characters, like equipment. Buff effects are temporary boosts that can be used in battle. Adventure Effects are boosts that can be used in the open world, particularly to boost material gathering. Synthesis effects can be used while practicing Alchemy, to boost the stats of final products.

Keys can have up to four different effects depending on the rarity of the key. There are also four rarities of keys: Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Super Rare. The higher the rarity level of the key, the more likely it is to have more numerous and potent effects. The best way to obtain high rarity keys are to synthesize keys with the Rarity Up effect, or to create keys from Boss Monsters.

When exploring the open world, you can only bring up to 10 keys with you. Since Symbol and Synthesis effects can only be used in menus, we recommend only carrying keys with Adventure and Buff effects on your key ring as you explore.

The keys with Adventure Effects on your key ring are also what you’ll have available to use to unlock barriers. There are four different colored barriers that correspond to each element. Try to have at least one key with Adventure Effects of each of the four elements—Fire, Ice, Bolt, and Air—to make sure you may open these barriers when you approach them.
