Guybrush is still in trouble despite completing The Journey to Mêlée Island Tall Tale. After getting all commendations for the first Monkey Island Sea of Thieves Tall Tale, I was eager to dive back in and help Guybrush. Besides saving Guybrush, my main goal was to complete all the commendations in The Quest for Guybrush in Sea of Thieves.

How to Start The Quest for Guybrush in Sea of Thieves
Go to Captain Capsize and vote to begin The Quest for Guybrush Tall Tale. Listen to the dialogue and then get on your ship. Sail toward the arch with a glowing green light. This teleports you into a cutscene where LeChuck makes you an offer. Once on Mêlée Island, head to the Mojo Shop and speak to Corina to begin the Tall Tale.

The first thing you should do is go to speak to Corina at the Mojo Shop. She tells you to speak to the three Pirate Lords. They will tell you about the Three Legendary Trials and suggest you speak to Corina for a potion to get rid of the fog on MêléeIsland. Before heading out, dip into the kitchen to get the Gainful Unemployment commendation.

How to Complete Gainful Unemployment - Sea of Thieves
Gainful Unemployment is one of the easiest commendations to get. All you have to do is speak to the cook in the Scum Bar, and after scolding you, he will promptly fire you from being his assistant and trigger the commendation.
Now, leave the Scum Bar and head back to Corina. She commands you to gather the necessary materials to complete the Three Legendary Trials. You must get asword worthy of insult fighting, atreasure map, and the ability to use the ropes on Mêlée Island.
How to Complete the Cleaning the Air Commendation - Sea of Thieves
Return to the Mojo Shop and speak to Corina to get the Mojo Potion of New Horizons. Take this to the Mêlée Island Lookout Point. Pour the potion on the fire, and the magic will dispel the fog on Mêlée Island. After doing this, the path behind the Governor’s Mansion will open, and you can proceed further into Mêlée Island.
How to Complete Mêlée Island Spectacular and Spectacular Superstar Commendations - Sea of Thieves
At the circus, Alfredo and Bill request you to complete their Mêlée Island Spectacular. There are two commendations for this, but one requires you to complete it in 25 seconds. Here are the steps you must do for the Mêlée Island Spectacular.
I highly recommend positioning the cannon before beginning. I used the angle pictured below and flew through all three rings, and landed in the water. To get the commendation in under 25 seconds, you must go as fast as possible. You can retry the Mêlée Island Spectacular as often as you want, so don’t fret if you don’t get it the first time. You’ll need to complete it once to get some Pieces o' Eight.
How to Complete the Trial of Treasure-Huntery Commendation - Sea of Thieves
To complete this commendation, you must get the Treasure Map from the Citizen of Mêlée.Follow the clues on the map, of which there are four parts, and you will come to a golden chest buried in the sand. Open this to claim an Idol, which you must give to Corina.

How to Complete the Trial of Thievery Commendation - Sea of Thieves
For the Trial of Thievery, you must steal an Idol from Stan. You’ll need to complete various steps, as Stan is eagle-eyed. First, you should speak to Stan and inspect all four vessels he has for sale. Speak to him again once he returns to his office. Ask about the Headless Monkey, and you’ll learn Meathook purchased it.
Head to Hook Island and enter Meathook’s home. Speak to him to learn the Beast has escaped, but ask about the Headless Monkey. You can offer to catch the Beast in exchange for the Headless Monkey’s Bill of Sale.
The first thing you must do is remove the five cutlasses from the Beast’s cage. After completing this, head outside to the left of Meathook’s home and pick up some wood planks. Place these over the cage until Meathook says you must find a lever.
Exit the home and turn right, entering the forest. Here, you’ll find a rare Mop Tree. Break off a branch and return to Meathook’s home to use as a lever. Your next task is to find some Banana Grease. Search the furniture in Meathook’s home until you uncover it. Give this to Meathook, then head upstairs and look under Meathook’s pillow to find the shanty he mentions.
You are now prepared to face the Beast. Head to the top of Hook Island and equip a musical instrument. Scroll through your songs and play the shanty you learned from Meat Hook. Eventually, the screen will shake, and a music cue happens. The Beast will fly down, and after a moment, you’re able to pick it up. Place it back in the cage in Meathook’s home to get the Bill of Sale.
How to Complete The Beast Whisperer Commendation - Sea of Thieves
Once you pick up the Beast, press the primary interact button. Your pirate will stroke the Beast, and you will get the commendation.
How to Complete Stantastic Voyage Commendation - Sea of Thieves
After placing the Beast in the cage and getting the Bill of Sale, return to Stan. Speak to him and go through the cannon, wheel, and capstan he is trying to sale. Speak to him again about furniture and he will show you a wardrobe. Select the dialogue option about the wardrobe’s space.
Stan will climb into the wardrobe to show you the size. Lock the doors, and when the option appears, push the wardrobe. Select this option until you push the wardrobe and Stan into the ocean. Go to the side of his office and grab the key. Use this to open the door to Stan’s Previously Owned Vessels. Grab the book opposite the safe to learn the combination.
Entering the above combination opens the safe and allows you to claim another Idol. Head outside and give this to Corina to complete the Trial of Thievery.
How to Complete Yo-ho-ho, and… Commendation - Sea of Thieves
Put a Piece o' Eight into the grog barrel by Stan’s office. A grog will drop out, and you can drink this to claim the Yo-ho-ho, and… commendation.

How to Complete the Trial of the Sword Commendation - Sea of Thieves
You’ll need to have gotten theMighty Pirate Swordto complete this, so ensure you have it. Make your way to Captain Smirk’s house overlooking Stan’s store. Use the armory outside to equip the Mighty Pirate Sword. Knock on the cabin and pay Captain Smirk to train you.
He gives you a tutorial on insult sword fighting, where he teaches you the basics. You must match the correct insult and retort to succeed; otherwise, you will damage yourself. There are 20 insults and retorts to learn.
You can find Ghost Pirate fighters all over Mêlée Island to learn these, marked by Captain Smirk’s map. Interact with Murray at these locations to summon the Ghost Pirates. During combat, look for an option to interact with them to hurl an insult or retort. Here are all the insults and retorts in The Quest for Guybrush.
How to CompleteSword MasterCommendation - Sea of Thieves
To complete the Sword Master commendation, you must use every insult and retort. Keep an eye out for options with a yellow dot. The dot indicates that you have not used an insult or retort yet. Face every opponent on Mêlée Island to ensure you use each and every one.
How to Complete The Quest for Guybrush - Sea of Thieves
With Ribbsy defeated, you gain the final Idol and give it to Corina to complete the Trial of the Sword. Before heading to the Mojo Shop and finishing The Quest for Guybrush Tall Tale, ensure you have completed all commendations, gathered all Memoir Spots and Elaine’s Journals, and are ready to continue. If you have completed all of the above, you will gain the final commendations listed below.
