You’ll need careful timing, but with practice you’ll be clearing out Bandit Camps in no time.
All Enemies in Hogwarts Legacy and how to counter them
For the purposes of this guide, we are not includingInfamous Foes. We’re also not including enemies that you encounter on particular quests with generic descriptions, like Death’s Shadows from Niamh Fitzgerald’s Trial or Mannequins fromMinding Your Own Business, thePS5 Exclusive quest.
All Dugbogs and their weaknesses in Hogwarts Legacy
There are three variations of Dugbogs in Hogwarts Legacy, theStoneback Dugbog, theGreat Spined Dugbog, and theCottongrass Dugbog. They can all be found in environments that match their camouflage best, so they can sneak up on you.
Mechanically, all Dugbogs have the same weaknesses. The first occurs after they charge at you. If you dodge the lunge, then respond withDepulsoorFlipendo, you canflip the Dugbogon its back. When a Dugbog opens its mouth to prepare an attack, you can castLeviosotolevitatethe Dugbog by its tongue, and thenDiffendotoslice the dangling Dugbog.
All Ashwinders and their weaknesses in Hogwarts Legacy
There are six different types of Ashwinder enemies. These enemies do operate differently, so we’ll discuss them individually.
Ashwinder Scouts
Ashwinder Scoutsare fairly generic enemies. They have no particular weaknesses, but are vulnerable to almost any spell that you can cast. They can not shield themselves, either.
Ashwinder Soldiers
These Dark wizard enemies can cast Protego, so pay attention to the color of their shield to break it. When Ashwinder Soldiers are preparing a curse, you can useLeviosoto interrupt them, sending the curse at one of their own gang members.
Ashwinder Rangers
Ashwinder Rangerswill attempt to cast Petrificus Totalus at you from a distance. UsingAccioto bring them in closer can help to foil their plans.
Ashwinder Duelist
Similarly to Ashwinder Soldiers,Ashwinder Duelistscan use shields and can cast a Reductor Curse at you, which can not be blocked by your own shield. Instead you should useDiffendoas they are readying this curse, to interrupt them and send the curse at another of your enemies.
Ashwinder Assasian
Ashwinder Assasianscan summon Inferi to attack you. Your best bet is to keep focused on them, and defeat them before the dead are summoned. They will also occasionally cast the Reductor Curse at you, like Duelists. In this instance, useDepulsoto send the curse at another of your enemies.
Ashwinder Executioner
These are some of the most powerful Ashwinder enemies you’re able to encounter.Ashwinder Executionershave access to a lightning spell similar to your Thunderbrew potion. You have two options when they are readying this curse. If you castArresto Momentum, the lightning will be prolonged, and you can then use the opportunity to use force spells to throw other Ashwinders into the lightning. If you want to turn the tables on the Executioner, useExpelliarmusto throw the attack back at its caster.
Inferi and their weakness in Hogwarts Legacy
Inferionly come in one, skeletal, zombie-like form. They can only be damaged after they have been set ablaze by one of two spells,IncendioorConfringo.Bombardacan be used to interrupt an attacking Inferius as it raises its fists over you, but this spell will not set Inferi on fire.

All Poacher Enemies and their weaknesses in Hogwarts Legacy
Like Ashwinders, there are six different types of Poacher enemies you can encounter. They all have their own particular weaknesses.
Poacher Tracker
Poacher Trackersare pretty equivalent to Ashwinder Scouts. They have no access to shield charms, and are vulnerable to almost all of the spells you have access to.
Poacher Ranger
Here again,Poacher Rangersare very similar to Ashwinder Rangers. Instead of Petrificus Totalus, they will cast Levioso at you. The simplest way to take them down is to pull them in close withAccio, then follow-up attack.
Poacher Stalker
Poacher Stalkerscan use shields to protect themselves. There is also an opportunity to counter the Blasting curse they throw at you, by castingGlaciusat them while they are readying the curse.
Poacher Duelist
These enemies are very similar to Ashwinder Duelists. In fact,Poacher Duelistshave the same weakness, which is castingDiffendoto interrupt their Reductor curse. This will send it flying at another Poacher enemy.
Poacher Executioner
Poacher Executionersare, once again, similar to their Ashwinder counterparts. Instead of lightning, they will summon columns of fire. You can take advantage of this spell in the same way, though. CastExpelliarmusto flip the spell back at it’s caster, or useArresto Momentumto prolong the fire, which you can then use as a natural hazard against other enemies you may be fighting.
Poacher Animagus
These enemies are a bit more unique.Poacher Animagican all transform into wolves. You must weaken them to force them back into human form before they can be defeated. Using theTransformation Spellcan revert them back to human form instantly, however. While in human form, they can also cast a Reductor curse at you. UseDepulsoto interrupt this and send the curse flying at another Poacher.

All Loyalist Enemies and their weaknesses in Hogwarts Legacy
There are five different kinds of Loyalist Goblins you can encounter in Hogwarts Legacy. Like Ashwinders and Poachers, they all fall into different roles, and have separate weaknesses you can exploit.
Loyalist Warrior
Loyalist Warriorsare your generic enemies. They do hold weapons, so usingExpelliarmusto disarm them can be to your advantage.
Loyalist Ranger
Instead of attacking you with spells,Loyalist Rangerswill attempt to to attack you with crossbow bolts. You can use yourAncient Magic Throwto snatch the bolt away from a Ranger while it is readying its attack, thenthrow it backat them. You can also useAccioto pull them in close and take away their natural advantage.
Loyalist Assassin
Loyalist Assassinsuse a special charged attack that can not be deflected with a shield. You can either dodge it, or you can castArresto Momentumto counter it, then follow-up attack.
Loyalist Commander
Loyalist Commanderswield hammers against you. When they leap up to attack you, you’re able to useDescendotoslam themto the ground. Be careful as they also have a Ancient Magic ranged attack they can use against you.Acciois your best bet, here.
Loyalist Sentinel
These Goblins are the true leaders of the pack.Loyalist Sentinelscan use Ancient Magic to strengthen their comrades. While they are readying this boost, if you castBombardaat them, it will not only interrupt the spell, but damage the Sentinel and the Goblins it was meant to strengthen.
All Spiders and their weaknesses in Hogwarts Legacy
There are two main varieties of Spiders, Thornback and Venomous. The main difference is obvious. Venomous spiders will poison you if they successfully hit you, dealing damage over time. Thornbacks will not. Using aWiggenweld Potionwill cure the poison, as well as restore your HP. Otherwise, Spider varieties fight in the same manner and have the same weaknesses.
Hatchlings
Hatchlingsare weak individually, but are frequently encountered in swarms that can overwhelm you. You can blast them away with yourBasic cast, or they can be damaged when they attempt to strike you, but you counter withProtego.
Shooters
Thornback and Venomous Shooters are both ranged attackers that spit venom at you, though apparently the Thornback’s venom isn’t poisonous. While they are preparing to spit, you may useIncendioorConfringoto light them on fire.
Scurriours
Scurriourswill burrow into the ground and attack you from below. If you useFlipendowhen they begin to dig, you may rip them out of the ground, then follow-up attack. Once the spider is low on health, usingIncendioorConringocan light it on fire. Once a spider is ignited, you can follow-up with basic casts to even make them explode.
Ambushers
These are another version of ranged attackers. Instead of spitting venom, they shoot webs at you. Your best bet is to use Levioso to lift them off the ground an expose their underside, which can be exploited by follow-up attacks.
Matriarchs and Acromantulas
These are the largest of spiders. Frequently, their attacks will tear right through a Protego Charm. Acromantulas behave the same way as Matriarchs, they just tend to have more health. When they rise on their back legs to strike, you’ll have a small window of opportunity to useDescendotobury their headinto the ground.

All Trolls and their weaknesses in Hogwarts Legacy
There are six types of Trolls. They areForest Trolls,Mountain Trolls,River Trolls,Armoured Trolls,Fighter Trolls, andFortified Trolls. There is actually not much difference between fighting any of these types of Trolls. You have two main opportunities to counterstrike them.
If you dodge and use Protego correctly during a Troll’s club swing attack pattern, you’ll have an opportunity to useFlipendotoflip the Troll’s clubinto its face. If you use Protego when a Troll throws a boulder at you, you’ll have a short window of opportunity to use yourAncient Magic Throwto send the Troll’s boulderback at himand do significant follow-up damage.
All Mongrels and their weaknesses in Hogwarts Legacy
There are really only two types of Mongrels in Hogwarts Legacy,MongrelsandDark Mongrels. Where Dark Mongrels can be found specifically in Battle Arenas and Mongrel Dens, regular Mongrels tend to spawn randomly in the wild in areas like the Forbidden Forest. They both attack you in the same fashion.
If you useDepulsoas a Mongrel is charging in at you, you’ll be able torepelit and do extra damage with follow up attacks.
